Books...How could we live without them?

What would we do without books? The only other thing more enjoyable than reading them is sharing them with friends. That's what I will attempt to do here. Don't look for New York Times type reviews. I will do my best to give you a description and my opinion of the book with an economical use of words. Read on!!

This was the first book by Kathleen George I had read and it was very good. Set in Pittsburgh, Detectives Colleen Greer and John Potockin conduct a narcotics investigation and related murder. Through all this four children, deserted by their stepmoter, make due on their own while helping wounded ex-con Nick recover from a drug deal he backed out of that goes bad. Highlights are the relationship that evolves between Coleen and John and the charity and smarts exhibited by four tough, smart kids.
I have alway enjoyed Stephen King but have not read every one of his books. Having lived through this terrible day (and weekend) in American history I was immediately attracted by the premise of the story...to go back in time and save JFK. Of course in a 3 pound, 900 page book there has to be a bit more story than just time travel and trying to prevent a murder but Stephen King does a pretty good job of that. Even though the surrounding events are not as momentous as time travel the characters, storyline and outcome are tense, interesting and heartwarming. One of the best books I have read in a while and I would predict a movie may be in our future.
